Violin
One-to-one teaching built on posture, tone and reading — in that order.
Fix one thing at a time, properly
Most playing problems are one physical habit wearing several disguises. Rather than correcting five symptoms a week, we find the habit underneath and change that.
It is slower for a fortnight and much faster for a year.
What we actually work on
- 01
Posture and set-up
How the violin and bow are held decides almost everything that follows. This is where a beginner starts and where a returning player is usually fixed.
- 02
Tone and bow control
Weight, speed and contact point — the three things that turn a correct note into a note worth listening to.
- 03
Reading and rhythm
Reading fluently so that practising alone at home is productive instead of frustrating.
- 04
Repertoire you want to play
Technique is the means. We keep a piece on the stand that you actually want to finish.
